KEY EXECUTIVE BIOS

  • Dean Matus, Chief Executive Officer

    • Mr. Matus presents clients and colleagues with his unique skill set, combined with successful real-world experience in a number of key business sectors. Bringing over fifteen years of investment experience and ten years of hands-on expertise in the energy and real estate industries, he has become a recognized figure in the dynamic field of renewable energy.

      In 2013, after playing an integral part in the development and growth of a major solar energy company in the Northeast, Mr. Matus founded Lionshead Energy, a full service solar energy and energy efficiency firm operating out of New York City, and serving the tri-state metro NY region, the Mid-Atlantic, and Massachusetts. The firm is positioned to become the major player in the field due to Mr. Matus’ leadership, energy sector background and financial know-how.

      Previous to his work in solar energy, he served as Vice President for the Institutional Group of CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). Along with CBRE Vice-Chairman, Jeffrey Dunne, Mr. Matus’ team earned the prestigious Top Global Investment Sales and Banking honors, having arranged $4.2 billion worth of office, multi-family, retail and industrial property transactions in 2007.

      Prior to CBRE, Mr. Matus founded M3 Capital Group in partnership with a private equity firm. Mr. Matus played an integral role in establishing the firm’s real estate platform, offering diversification opportunities to public and private institutions, investment funds, and high-net worth individuals. Mr. Matus continues toserve as M3 Capital Group’s Managing Director and Head of Acquisitions / Dispositions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Matus worked as a Senior Equity Research Analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston, and as an Energy Analyst for NewPower, an energy service firm.

      Mr. Matus is active with NYU’s Center for Sustainability, is an advocate for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and holds an OSHA Certification. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Additionally, Mr. Matus sits on the board of the ELP Division at the UJA-Federation of New York, in addition to the Federation’s Capital Project Review Committee. Mr. Matus holds an MS in Real Estate Finance & Investment from New York University (NYU) and a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.

  • Shaun Keegan, President/Chief Operating Officer

    • For well over a decade, Mr. Keegan has been building solar photovoltaic systems specializing in commercial and utility scale. He has overseen and managed the successful installation of over a hundred projects in the past 3 years alone. Furthermore, Mr. Keegan owns and operates Solar Landscape, a multi-state licensed electrical contractor established in 1976. Mr. Keegan is NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) trained and has extensive experience in a variety of settings; rooftop, ground-mount, and carport installations for a variety of end-users including commercial property owners, government agencies, landfills, school districts, and Fortune 100 firms.

      Mr. Keegan spearheads Operations and Construction Management ensuring the timely completion and implementation of projects and that each exceeds our client’s expectation. His attention to detail and meticulous nature is clearly demonstrated and history has proven through prior installation excellence and a spotless safety record (0 incidents).

      Mr. Keegan holds a J.D. from Dexel University Law School and completed his Bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado at Boulder.

  • Thomas Schoenborne, PhD, Chief Technology Officer

    • Dr. Schoenborne is a post-doctoral research scientist with 25+ years of R&D experience in renewable energy and power control technologies. He also has over 200MW of solar, solar-thermal, geothermal and wind project field experience, making him uniquely qualified in the selection and implementation of bestof-breed technologies.

      As C.T.O., Thomas Schoenborne helps assure that Lionshead Energy will excel in today's strategically complex and evolving renewable energy markets. Prior to joining the firm, he founded A.R.Technologies, Ltd., where he provided R&D consultation to Fortune 500 customers on some of the world’s largest and most complicated renewable energy projects.

      Dr. Schoenborne holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from King's-College, Cambridge, is an active environmentalist and a co-founder of an international society that provides funding for sustainability research, worldwide.. He is an active environmentalist and recently founded an international society dedicated to the worldwide development and implementation of carbon sequestration technologies.

  • Robert Sassower, Senior Executive

    • With over a decade of experience providing strategic management and support to publically traded companies, Mr. Sassower brings a valuable skill set, a long history of success and varied accomplishments.

      Mr. Sassower oversees strategic development for Lionshead Energy focusing on sourcing, building and developing strong partnerships with clients. He has a broad and extensive knowledge of all matters related to the business of Lionshead Energy, with a keen eye towards identifying value opportunities to the clients, and providing their businesses with the best products and services.

      In addition to his work at Lionshead, Mr. Sassower also serves as a Vice President at The Phoenix Group- a private equity fund that specializes in making concentrated investment in publicly traded companies in North America.

      Mr. Sassower first met Lionshead’s founder and CEO, Mr. Dean Matus, while they both were pursuing their undergraduate degrees at Washington University. Their early ties developed not only into a friendship, but also built a solid foundation for their future business endeavors together. They both share a strong set of values, integrity and a vision for success.

      Mr. Sassower holds a JD from Hofstra Law and a B.S. from Washington University in St. Louis.
